請教su朋友:我的問題是 :末句之表示。 應該是規則鬆到無以復加。 "巴士"是比喻。
RL給一哲理:「過去的way是narrowband是小徑羊腸
現在的way是wideband變成十里洋場」
PR先用”loose and wide”說明,再更正:「rules watered down are no longer "tight", so loose and wide between the rules that a bus could be driven through in the space between the now loose and "wide-spaced" rules.

讀 1992年7月的讀者文摘 中英對照 The Honest Merchant of Herat
開頭an indefatigable smile 翻譯為:「面帶不屈不撓的笑容」
末段 spent four ingenious days persuading me to buy them.「花了四天、用盡辦法說服我買下」
感想:「用盡辦法」當然是 ingenious 之解釋;不過中文很少用「不屈不撓的笑容」,這比較難想像。
