Geeks bearing Gifts：informed (張華等試譯) : Holly 韓荷麗


我不了解"新聞業的結果是什麼"的英文，請問張華。

開始看「媒體失效的年代」這本新書，很有啟發性。看到一個句子覺得翻譯有點怪：「新聞業的結果是什麼：帶給個人和社會更廣博的見聞」；後文也一再提到「見聞程度」，或「社會上有太多人見聞貧乏」。
我不太理解「見聞」在這裡的意思，但明明這是關鍵，只能去找原文（利用Amazon上的部份預覽）。這也是我一直以來的半強迫症：看到不太對的翻譯，會盡量去找原文。
原文是：「新聞業的結果是什麼：a better informed individual and a better informed society.」。
這就是了。最近演講談媒體的角色常會說到，民主的基礎是informed citizens，而媒體的角色就是培育 informed individual，由此論證媒體對民主的重要（以及台灣媒體如何有害於民主）。
Be Informed 指的是對這個世界、對社會、對政治、對公共政策有更充分、更深刻的資訊和理解，這個字要準確翻譯成中文確實不容易，但我知道中文「見聞」是相去頗遠的概念。（哪位可以建議中譯？）
其實本書翻譯的相當流暢通順，也很......

informed或可譯為「知聞」。

2014年，大愛電視來大稻埕拍「愛，大稻埕」作者Holly，介紹外國人在台灣的生活。昨天跟今天，終於有播，但是錯過的人不用擔心，節目已經上YouTube了！（https://youtu.be/xohpTG9PJ1c?t=1s） 節目裡面可以看到很多大稻埕的店家與地點，所以「愛，大稻埕」的粉絲可能會有興趣！
