pollution 一詞，國人譯為"污染"，似乎太輕描淡寫了些，日語譯成"公害"，較之中文有懲戒性和準確性。.....應該譯為"褻瀆"或"玷污"，更能切合題意，達到對人類文明的反諷；。

HC按：pollution 可指的傷害範圍很廣，所以有的還不致於達"公害"。現在的日語辭典：

As several more houses are nearly ready to go, the next crash in Tom-all-Alone's may be expected to be a good one.
