	Masterclasses – Literary translation for the curious We are delighted to continue with our new series of literary translation masterclasses. These classes are open to anyone interested in literary translation, from beginners to professionals who would like to brush up their skills in the company of their peers. Led by experienced literary translators, the masterclasses will cover a broad range of subjects: from an introduction to the world of literary translation, to particular challenges such as translating crime, picture books and slang. The classes are not language specific. We will be using examples from a range of languages, but with a particular focus on translation into English. We are also offering a literary translation group therapy session with Daniel Hahn. The masterclasses will take place once a month at the London Review Bookshop on Monday evenings, 6.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m.  Translation group therapy will take place on Saturday 6th June from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the LRB office. All masterclasses are open to translators working from any language into English. The fee is £50 per class, with a 10% discount on any books purchased from the shop on the day. Book Now
			Group Therapy Daniel Hahn Saturday 6 June at 10 a.m. London Review of Books This literary translation group session will focus on collaborative translation problem solving. As a starting point, participants will be invited to send in one thorny issue with its context, or a paragraph of translation. The masterclass will explore in depth all the issues raised and how they illustrate the wider challenges of literary translation. Book Now
			Translating Slang Sarah Ardizzone Monday 15 June at 6.30 p.m. London Review Bookshop This masterclass will explore different strategies and approaches to translating slang; consider the challenges of capturing an oral language on the page; and look at the way the creativity, resourcefulness and inventiveness which translators must draw on to translate slang might affect their wider translation practice.
