Masterclasses – Literary translation for the curious
We are delighted to continue with our new series of literary translation masterclasses. These classes are open to anyone interested in literary translation, from beginners to professionals who would like to brush up their skills in the company of their peers.
Led by experienced literary translators, the masterclasses will cover a broad range of subjects: from an introduction to the world of literary translation, to particular challenges such as translating crime, picture books and slang. The classes are not language specific. We will be using examples from a range of languages, but with a particular focus on translation into English. We are also offering a literary translation group therapy session with Daniel Hahn.
The masterclasses will take place once a month at the London Review Bookshop on Monday evenings, 6.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. Translation group therapy will take place on Saturday 6th June from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the LRB office. All masterclasses are open to translators working from any language into English.
The fee is £50 per class, with a 10% discount on any books purchased from the shop on the day.
