他並舉格林多後書 (2 Corinthisans ) 第三章的下例:

2 Corinthians 3:6 (King James Version)

6Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

有意思的是可以比較一般的兩版本:

「我們所能承擔的，乃是出於神，他叫我們能承當這新約的執事，不是憑著字句，乃是憑著精意」(v.5-6)。

思高本: 6. 並且是衪使我們能夠做新約的僕役：這約並不是在於文字，而是在於神，因為文字人死，神卻叫人活。
