鳳梨科植物的拉丁學名 Bromeliad/Bromeliaceae，是法國植物學家 Charles Plumier (1646-1704) 為了「表彰」一位無籍籍名的瑞典植物學家 Olaf Bromelius (1634-1705) 而命名的 (named after Olaf Bromelius, a little-known Swedish botanist)。Charles Plumier是法王路易十四欽命植物學家，三度遠赴中南美洲加勒比海地區調查植物，他早 Bromelius 一年過世，當年他以 Bromeliaceae 命名鳳梨科的用意，是要世人注意 Bromelius 的貢獻，而不是「紀念」他。譯者在翻譯 “after someone” 時，不要千篇一律的譯為「紀念」，任意幫活人「作古」。Jerome Su
